Le Soixante-quinze |
The Schneider mod. 1897 was the french standard field piece from the end of the XIXth century to WW2. In the 1914-18 war, it saw widespread use in the mobile warfare and later as a siege artillery piece during the trench stalemate. Its versatility and reliability were greatly regarded by the armies of the many countries that used the "soixante quinze". The illustrated example below is displayed in the yard of the Museo Argentino de Armas, in Buenos Aires. The paint color resembles the french example displayed in the Musee des Invalides, the french army museum in Paris.
